Art teaching and the RSA Life School led areas of our collecting through much of the nineteenth century. Items were collected to teach students, while drawing and painting from the figure was taught actively by Academicians at the RSA and later in Edinburgh College of Art until 1932. Life and anatomical study remains key to figurative artists today.
