Watt was a student in the RSA Life School every year from 1894-5 to 1898-9.
In 1896 he was awarded an Extra Prize for Painting; in 1897 he took the Chalmers Bursary [probably with the present work] and also the Chalmers-Jervise Prize for the best Drawing from the Life in addition to the Maclaine-Watters Medal.
