Imlach was a student in the RSA Life School every year from 1876-7 to 1880-81 inc.
He took the Prize for Anatomical Drawing in 1878 [possibly for the present work] and the Prize for the Second best equal Drawing from the Life in 1881, sharing that prize with J Michael Brown.
