Trees and Mist

Printer: Cordiner, Stewart Buchan · b. 1949Artist: Rodger, Willie, RSA RGI DUniv · 1930-2018Printer: Peacock Printmakers

The work was one of a number of lithographs, screenprints and drypoint prints executed by the artist at the Peacock Printmakers studio in Aberdeen with the technical assistance of their staff, for an exhibition titled 'Wood from Trees,' which opened at the Lothian Estates, Harestanes by Jedburgh (Jun-Nov 1982) before touring to Portfolio 4 in Linlithgow (17 Apr - 6 May 1983) and Artspace Gallery at Peacock Printmakers in Aberdeen (2 – 27 Jun 1983).

Peacock’s then Director and Master Printer, Arthur J Watson PPRSA recalls that the misty effect was unorthodoxly achieved by Stuart Cordiner putting the stone back under the carbonundrum and effectively removing the bulk of the drawing, before re-inking and taking the impression, resulting in one of the finest prints ever produced at Peacock.
