Untitled Metal Fitting in the form of a Heron
Sculptor: Rand, Keith John, RSA · 1956-2013
Probably a design prototype connected with the River Parrett Trail
This major project began as a residency at Cannington College whose HND students assisted Rand in the fabrication and installation of his designs.
The residency is covered in the Keith Rand Studio Gift Archive in the form of project files, colour photographs, VHS Video tapes (which identifies at least by first name the HND students) and in at least 2 sketchbooks, one of which takes the from of a diary recording the health and mood swings of Rand at this time, as he was undergoing chemotherapy treatment for leukemia. A pencil Self Portrait with a Shaved Head in the collection may also relate to this period.
