The letter from the donor (original in Stanley Cursiter RSA artist file, with copy in W G Stevenson's artist file) states that the bust "was executed over fifty years ago and depicts the head and shoulders of a girl of eighteen, hair parted, hanging in curls and confined by a band, placid expression of countenance, double frill (suggests cambric) round neck, ribbon and cross ornament."
