Although painting of a cathedral interior was deposited as Cameron's Diploma Work in a letter to the RSA dated 1918-11-01 he explains that "I had hoped to/ submit an important/ picture from the War/ Front , but conditions/ there prevented me getting/ back to France, and/ I cannot go for a month/ or two." ( Letter in "early 20th c letter collection, Members." also copies in file "RSA Collections, notes, copies, transcripts) In 1920 D.Y. Cameron submitted another cathedral subject - "Durham Cathedral" as his Diploma Work for the Royal Academy.
