Ben Ledi

Artist: Cameron, David Young, Sir, RSA RA RSW RE · 1865-1945

Regarded as Cameron’s finest graphic work. Ben Ledi ‘The Hill of God’ was a seminal motif for Cameron, whose house and studio at Kippen in Stirlingshire took in the splendour of Ben Ledi and the Trossach peaks to the North.

Though not individually numbered, Cameron’s etched work seldom exceeded 50 to 75 impressions before the copper plates began to show signs of wear.

The print (but not necessarily the present impression) is Rinder [424] repro p.236, discussed pp.xlv, xlvi, 237; Smith, repro pl.58, p.78 and discussed
