Cappela dei Pazzi
Artist: Trapnell, Matthew John · b. 1968
The artist, an Architecture graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, was in Italy in 1992 on an 1992 RSA John Kinross Travel Scholarship.
Situated in the cloisters of the Santa Croce complex in Florence, the Pazzi Chapel is considered the finest extant work by the great Renaissance architect Brunelleschi. Virtually unaltered since it was built in the 1400s the use of symmetry, proportion, light and the incorporation of exterior space, epitomizes the highest design ideals of the period.
