Blue and White Float
Artist: Blyth, Robert Henderson, RSA · 1919-1970
The RSA has the gouache study for this painting "Study for Blue and White Float" 1992.116. An identically titled painting "The Blue and White Float" priced at £80 was exhibited at the RGI in 1956, catalogue number 151 which may have been the Diploma Work.In Gillies Photographs blue archive box 2 there is a paper wallet of photographs taken by Blyth of what appear to be Banffshire harbour scenes (the boats all bear Banffshire registrations) one of these is of a section of harbour wall with the painted inscription 'JM' and appears to relate to the Diploma Work. The precise location of the harbour has not been identified but it is possibly Macduff harbour.
