A Grey Day
Artist: Brown, Alexander Kellock, RSA · 1849-1922
The specific location has not been identified however it probably depicts a scene on the Solway coast in south west Scotland.
Brown exhibited a number of paintings at around this time with titles relating to the Solway Firth which would support this theory.
Brown exhibited an identically titled watercolour "A Grey Day" at the 1920 RSA Annual Exhibition, catalogue number 539 sold for £15 /15 which was possibly a version of his Diploma Work.
