"Pretty Things - Eilidh"
Artist: Fairgrieve, James Hanratty, RSA RSW · b. 1944
James Fairgrive has explained that the title and the painting were inspired by his grandaughter Eilidh 'The Eilidh in the title is my first grand/ child and she helped collect some of the objects/ which she considered 'pretty'. 'The walking sticks (home made) belong to other members of my family/ So, I suppose the picture is a kind of amalgam of ideas based on memories of times and places, with strong family associations.' (see letter from Fairgrieve to Collections Assistant dated 2005-04-26 in Fairgrieve's file)
