A Scotch Peasant Girl

In 1867 a piece was exhibited at the RSA "A Scotch peasant girl - a study from nature, marble bust" catalogue number 904 that is very similar in theme to the Diploma Work (which is however signed and dated 1879). The theme was obviously a popular one for the sculptor with him exhibiting "Barbara, a Scottish peasant girl - marble" at the RSA in 1885 catalogue number 284. Also at the RGI in 1869 he exhibited "Marble bust of a Scottish Peasant Girl" catalogue number 728 and at the RA in 1868 "Scotch peasant girl; marble" catalogue number 1110.
