Artist: Reid, George Ogilvy, RSA · 1851-1928

Reid was a student in the RSA Life School every year from 1875-6 to 1879-80 inc.
In 1878 he was awarded the Prizes for the Second best Drawing from the Life and the Second best Painting from the Life; in 1879 he shared the Stuart Prize with Andrew Young and Joseph Thorburn Ross. The RSA Annual Report for 1879 recorded; “The designs sent this year in competition for the Stuart Prize are much superior to those submitted last year; and the Council; after selecting the works of Messrs Young, Reid and Ross, felt such difficulty in deciding which was the best that they resolved to divide the prize equally among them.” The Visitors to the RSA Life School during his time were; K MacLeay; J M Barclay and G P Chalmers (1875-6); K MacLeay; J M Barclay and W McTaggart (1876-7); K MacLeay; W McTaggart and G Hay (1877-78); K MacLeay; W McTaggart and G Hay (1878-9) and J M Barclay; William McTaggart; Robert Herdman and W E Lockhart (1879-80).
