Landscape with Stone Wall and Fields
Artist: Gillies, William George, Sir, CBE RA RSA PPRSW · 1898-1973
A typical example of the pencil sketches executed by Gillies on his many trips into the landscape around his home in Temple, Midlothian.
Such sketches were important for keeping his hand in, and so prolific was his output that a day couldn't have gone by without him making a mark on paper or canvas.
