Garden in Winter, Temple - sketch
Artist: Gillies, William George, Sir, CBE RA RSA PPRSW · 1898-1973
When he was not out and about recording the landscapes of Scotland, or painting still lives, Gillies found much to occupy him in Temple village itself and in particular in the back garden of his home at Temple Cottage.
There was no garden a the front of the property which is built straight to the road.
The present sketch shows the somewhat haphazard arrangement of extensions to the original house to the right and the row of adjacent and possibly older cottages and outbuildings to the left.
