Firth of Clyde with Elegant Country House

The painting has been taken from high-ground apparently on the south side of the River Clyde looking North, or possibly on the east side looking West, somewhere between Port Glasgow and Largs.
The sharp and detailed delineation of the pair of gothic doored, semi-detached cottages to left of centre may indicate that this was a commissioned painting perhaps fort he architect or original owner of one of them.
