Wilkie exhibited "The Pedlar," (2 foot 11 inches x 2 foot seven inches, at the British Institution in 1817 (cat.19).
Wilkie's original oil is now in the Yale Centre for British Art, whilst The Royal Academy in London holds an oil sketch for it.
