Bran, a Celebrated Deerhound of the True Old Highland Breed

Duncan's original oil painting is in the collections of the National Galleries of Scotland (NG604) to whom it was bequeathed by the dog's owner Duncan Macneill, Lord Colonsay in 1874.
A second oil of another hound of the same name but belonging to Perth Solicitor James Condie, is in the collections of Perth Museum and Art Gallery (10/49) bequeathed by Robert Hay Robertson in 1926.
Although not identified on the plate the printer is assumed to have been McGlashan on the basis that he is identified as the printer on RSA 1995.083 which is a first class proof impression of the present work
An early publication from Hill from his second premises at 76 Princes Street, to which he had moved from no.50, in 1841.
