Wilkie was a great influence on many of the early members of the RSA and was elected an HRSA in 1832. His original oil painting painted between 1820 and 1823 was bequeathed to The Tate in 1854

Hodgson, Boys and Graves published this print on 1834-07-14 as an etching and engraving, having previously been issued as an etching by Raimbach and Wilkie in 1829. (vide impressions of this latter issue in British Museum, acc no. 1839,03069.18, and of the earlier version, same collection acc no. 1839,0413.32)

The BM impression carries the following inscription; "Painted by David Wilkie R.A. / London Published July 14. 1834, by Hodgson, Boys & Graves, Printsellers to the King, 6, Pall Mall, and Sold also by F.G. Moon, 20, Haymarket Street. / Engraved by Abr: Raimbach, Hony. Member of the Academies of St Petersburgh & Geneva."
