Italian Goatherds Entertaining a Brother of the Santissima Trinita

One of four large plates engraved by Miller for The Royal Association for the Promotion of the Fine Arts in Scotland. According to the 1886 checklist of Miller's engraved work he charged £493.00 for engraving this plate.

The Report of the Committee of Management of the Association for the Promotion of the Fine Arts in Scotland for 1843 records on p.10; "With regard to the engraving of "Italian Goatherds entertaining a brother of the Santissima Trinita" which was authorised at the last AGM to be entrusted to Mr William Miller of this city, the Committee has to report that the engraved plate is now completed in a manner which cannot fail to give the most extra satisfaction to the members of the present year, 1843, to whom impressions will be delivered sometime during the ensuing Autumn." The Report indicates that Miller was paid £470.10/6d with a further £500 paid out for paper and printing.
