Hislop, Margaret Ross, RSA

1895 – 1972

Margaret Grant was educated at West Calder High School and trained at Edinburgh College of Art gaining her Diploma in 1916. She travelled in Canada, India and Egypt and examples of her work is in American and Australian collections. She specialised in still life, particularly flower studies and portraits. In 1921 she married the painter Andrew Healey Hislop (1887 - 1954). She exhibited at the RSA (as did her husband) from 1919 until 1972. As Margaret Hislop she became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1950 and an Academician in 1964.
