Collins, Peter Godfrey, RSA

1935 – 2023

Collins is a painter, born in Inverness, whose work has a Surrealist quality. He studied at Edinburgh College of Art (1952–6) and gained a Post-Diploma Scholarship and an Andrew Grant Major Travelling Scholarship in 1957, studying in Italy in 1957-58. In 1962 he won the RSA Latimer Award and in 1965 he became a Lecturer at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee. He has exhibited at the RSA from 1957 becoming an Associate Member of the RSA in 1966 and an Academician in 1974. He was a professional member of Society of Scottish Artists. He has shown in many significant group exhibitions including at the Arts Council of Northern Ireland; New Charing Cross Gallery, Glasgow; and in 1970 he was included in the Scottish Arts Council show Seven Painters in Dundee.
