Moodie, Donald, RSA

1892 – 1963

Trained at Edinburgh College of Art gaining his Post - Graduate Scholarship in 1914. Served in the First World War. After the War he became a Member of the teaching staff in the Department of Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art in 1919. In 1955 due to illness he resigned from the College. In addition to his paintings in oil and watercolour he also painted murals for churches. He was a close friend of Gillies and they enjoyed many painting trips together. Moodie exhibited at the RSA from 1919 until 1963. He became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1943 and an Academician in 1952, he was also the President of the SSA from 1937 - 1942.
