Wilson, David Forrester, RSA

1873 – 1950

Began a career in business and attended evening art classes at Gorbals Public School. In 1899 he went to Glasgow School of Art winning the Haldane Scholarship in 1901. Travelled in Europe in 1905 visiting Italy, Paris. At the invitation of Fra Newbery, Wilson joined the staff of Glasgow School of Art and upon the retirement of Maurice Greiffenhagen in 1931 he became Head of the Drawing and Painting section which he held until 1938. Wilson exhibited at the RSA Annual Exhibitions from 1903 until 1948. He became an Associate Member of the RSA in 1922 and an Academician in 1932.
