1801 – 1870

vide photocopy of typescript from the artist's grandchild E.B.Herdman, 1977-11-01 in the artist's file which dismantles the erroneous inclusion of the middle name William which appears in numerous Art Dictionary references, originally introduced by Algernon Graves in his compiling the List of Exhibitors at the Royal Academy and compounded ever since.
