Robot Workshop (i)
Artist: McMurdo, Wendy, RSA · b. 1962
part of a photographic record of a primary school workshop based on robots. In her work (photography, film and new media) she explores the ways in which technology influences early learning. She exploits the artistic possibilities offered by scientific progress in her work and raises questions about the effect new virtual technologies have on human beings. Recent exhibitions have included Between Realities at Färgfabriken, Stockholm Sweden (2018), Indeterminate Objects (classrooms) commissioned for the Media Wall, Photographers Gallery, London (2017) and The Digital Eye: Photographic Art in the Electronic Age, The Henry Art Gallery, University of Washington, Seattle (2011).
In 2015 she was awarded a PhD by publication for her work on the relationship between photography, the computer and the representation of childhood by the University of Westminster.
