Young Men's Christian Association (front elevation) Edinburgh, New Building

Draughtsman: Browne, George Washington, Sir, PPRSA RSA · 1853-1939

The YMCA Building was designed by Browne c.1914-15 and was built on the west side of South St Andrew Street, where it still stands in 2018 though no longer as the YMCA. The Architecture of Scotland Guide for Edinburgh describes it thus; "Then the YMCA by George Washington Browne, 1914-15, somewhat in the Academic manner of his former partner John M Dick Peddie, with giant recessed Ionic columns over a channelled base."
