Geevor Ortus
Artist: Onwin, Glen, RSA · b. 1947
To create the work the artist painted a coal dust pigment oil paint onto the canvas. This was then coated with paraffin wax and a concentrated brine NaCl (sodium chloride) solution was allowed to evaporate. The resulting crystalline salt formations are held within the paraffin wax medium. The salt formations on the panel are the result of a chance natural phenomena and were not designed by the artist.
