Printmaker: Adesina, Ade RSA · b. 1980
the print was made whilst Adesina was a John Kinross Scholar, and before his election as RSA. It is likely that the buildings depicted in this work are all real buildings discovered by the artist during his trip to Florence in 2012. The artist visited the RSA collections at The Dean Gallery, Belford Road, Edinburgh, with Gray’s School of Art and Michael Agnew RSA on 11 April 2012 to view areas of the print collections. He described this experience as a breakthrough in the development of his printmaking practice, which helped give the inspiration and confidence to create these large scale prints. See email sent to RSA Collections Curator, images, plus forms, notes and background for the work in “Acquisitions – Kinross Scholarship” file.
