Panther of India No.1
Artist: Barye, Antoine-Louis · 1795-1875
Modelled in the 1830's and cast as the Panther of India No2 in 1857 as a companion piece to the similar Panthe rof Tunis No2. Both pieces were recast in a larger size, a shere, in 1860 and these later casts are known as Panther of India No1 and panther of Tunis No1 respectively. The Panther of India No1 was cast again c.1900 by the Paris Foundry of F Barbedienne.
