Yield Brother
Artist: Hunter, Kenneth [Kenny], RSA · b. 1962
On his Diploma Work deposit form the artist stated; “Although I have made other sculptures using the form of a chimpanzee’s head, ‘Yield Brother’ is a unique Artwork that addresses and questions our relationship to the great apes. It is activated by a title that has a dualistic nature, presenting it as a work in progress also further underlines it’s unresolved status as we continue reassess both through Art and Science our kinship with this species in relation to historical precedents and ethics.”
