IBIZA/ LOCH MELFORT

The artist visited Ibiza in 1984 and Melfort and Loch Avich in April 1986. Vide also RSA Acc 2016. 056-058inc. after Leafs 2r,4r,5r,12r,13r, 14r and 15r.
Loch Melfort was a popular destination for Michie, with recorded trips undertaken to that location in April of every year between and including 1985 and 1996 with the exception of 1987 and 1992.
Leaf 16r is a preparatory study for the gouache painting RSA Acc 2016.053 and another version in oil executed and exhibited in 2008 in Michie’s 80th birthday Exhibition at The Scottish Gallery (illus in cat.)
