Painting depicts Rossie Braes, the hills that lie behind the Montrose basin in Montrose, Angus. In a letter to the RSA from Morrison dated 2003-01-09 the artist confirms that "the painting is of/ the view north - west over the Basin/ towards the Grampian foot hills, just about/ where the entrance is to Glen Esk.." Copy of letter in hanging file "Articles on Painters". In this same letter the artist states that he does not believe this painting has ever been exhibited.
