" MEDIUM; MIXED MEDIA PAINTING 2003/WORK EXHIBITED IN RSA SUMMER SHOW 2003/ ABERDEEN ARTISTS EXHIBITION 2004/ SOLO EXHIBITION AT THE FOYER GALLERY ABERDEEN 2003/ In 1999 I received a Sir William Gillies Award from the Academy to/ visit the Printmaking Center in Santa Fe New Mexico. As a result of this/ I have conducted workshops there each year since 2000, at the/ invitation of the programme director./ The work in question was inspired by a visit to the 'Palace of the/ Governors'. One of the exhibits was a door that had been removed/ from one of the old houses in Santa Fe, that had seen and been part of/ the history of the wild west. This door carried much information in/ terms of the scars of war; bullet holes, metal furniture; staples;/ repairs; and had this wonderful presence of something that had/ physical changes made to it over the years, and had become an object/ of some significance" (note sent to Collections Assistant from Dunbar of 2006-05-15) "In response to you letter re my diploma work for the RSA. The materials used were/ oil, acrylic on a caulk ground. The relief pieces are make from cast pulp and/ the whole work is covered in casting resin" (e-mail from Dunbar to Collections Assistant of 2006-05-29, copy in Dunbar's file)
