Shore Scene, West Highlands
Artist: Gillies, William George, Sir, CBE RA RSA PPRSW · 1898-1973
The work was painted at the artist's home at 162 Willowbrae Road, Edinburgh, to which he moved in 1932 with his widowed mother and his two unmarried sisters Janet and Emma from their native Haddington.
He based it on sketches made on his trip to the Western Highlands.
