Washing on the Line, Temple
Artist: Gillies, William George, Sir, CBE RA RSA PPRSW · 1898-1973
This is a sketch of washing hanging on a line in the back garden of the artist's house at Temple village in Midlothian to which he moved in 1939 and spent the remainder of his life until his death in 1973.
The view is from the bottom of the garden looking back towards Temple Cottage.
The drawing has colour notes by the artist, suggesting he may have intended to produce a painting from this sketch.
