Anatomia

Publisher: Flying Horse Press · b. 1990Artist: Donald, George, RSA · b. 1943

"The drawings in this book were all produced in front of students / in the visual arts studios of the University of Central Florida to / illustrate a BA course in figure drawing and anatomy. / They were created spontaneously throughout an 8 week period and / during class instruction. / They explore the superficial anatomy of the life model and address / aspects of drawing technique. They examine a limited, but arguably / essential number of anatomical features, with the aim of revealing a deeper understanding of the dynamic forms within the structure of / the human figure and, in turn encouraging more authentic, dramatic / and expressive drawing. / Photographic images from my own collection have been used to / further illustrate and augment the theoretical studies. / The book is not intended as a comprehensive teaching aid, but / rather a record of the work produced for one class over a relatively / short and intensive period. I hope my students enjoyed these classes / as much as I did teaching them. / The project was made possible by an award from the Royal Scottish Academy Sir William Gillies Bequest."
