In 1893 "Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh - original design for Meadowside site (Now abandoned) was exhibited at the RSA, catalogue number 498. In 1895 "Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Rillbank, Edinburgh - administrative block" was exhibited at the RSA, catalogue number 626 (which may have been the same piece as the Diploma Work) and in 1940 as part of a memorial display to the architect at the RSA "Sick Children's Hospital, Edinburgh - administrative block" catalogue number 578 was shown. The 1940 RSA Exhibition catalogue does not make any specific reference to this being the RSA Diploma piece on loan. There are two black and white photographs of the Royal Hospital for Sick Children by Bedford Lemere & Co of London (1993.121.1-2) in Small Solander Box, Architecture Photos.

Although Sir George Washington Browne was the architect of the piece, the drawing was executed by the architect and draughtsman, Thomas Raffles Davidson (1853-1937). He also produced Hippolyte J. Blanc's Diploma Work "Thomas Coats Memorial Church, Paisley" and James Dunn's Diploma Work "House at Elgin".
