The sketch may date to the earlier part of Hill's career. He made a couple of sketches of the Old High Street during the great conflagration which occurred there in November 1824, the fire having broken out in the workshop of James Kirkwood & Son, vide NGS D2464a-c inc. for Hill's on-the-spot drawings
