Spyney Castle
Artist: Grose, Francis · 1731-1791
The ruin is better known as Spynie Palace and appears under that name for plate I and under Spynie Castle for Plate II for which latter plate this appears to be the original drawing (vide Grose’s The antiquities of Scotland, Vol 2, facing page 281). The text reads ; “This plate gives a different view of this venerable ruin. Both were drawn A.D. 1790.”
