Fox Attacking Wounded Swan

Artist: Walls, William, RSA RSW · 1860-1942

A similarly titled painting "The Wounded Swan" was exhibited at the RSA in 1908 catalogue number 166, this exhibited painting may have been the same piece as the Diploma Work. In a letter from Walls to W.D. McKay dated 1915-03-09 he submits "Fox Attacking Wounded Swan" as a temporary substitute explaining that "My ambition is to give the very/ best picture I can possibly paint./ I hope soon to have something which/ will represent my high water mark/ (to date) as regards painting."
