Rodger had first worked with Peacock Printmakers on their 1976 Calendar to which he contributed "November."
In 1982 Rodger and Peacock were involved in their first major collaboration which saw the production of an entire exhibition's worth of prints across several media.
These were for a solo touring exhibition which Rodger had been invited to create for the Harestanes estate near Jedburgh int he Scottish Borders. The theme was trees and included woodcuts, etchings and drypoints and silkscreens. All but the woodcuts were printed at Peacock. The exhibition was titled Trees From Wood.
The present print, featuring a love heart and initials carved into a tree trunk is from a series of four identical images the only difference being the colour combination of ink and paper. Here black ink has been used on black paper
The prints were printed by Arthur Watson
The print carries the Peacock embossed stamp, itself designed by Donald Addison
