Study for a Portrait of Anthony Wheeler OBE RSA PPRIAS

Artist: Morrocco, Alberto, RSA · 1917-1998

An informal and sensitive preparatory study for a larger painting in oil which latter work was exhibited in the RSA Annual Exhibition in 1978 (cat.152).

This predates by 14 years the Presidential Portrait of Wheeler painted by Morrocco on the former demitting the office of President of the RSA in 1990. It was protocol for the outgoing President to request that their portrait be painted by a specific artist selected by themselves.
