The present work was printed at Peacock Printmakers in Aberdeen from Rodger's original linocut design.
In 1993 the Society of Scottish Artist's was approached by Dunfermline District Arts Festival Committee to select from their membership a small group of artists to create site specific works for an exhibition to be held in the upper gallery at Pittencrieff House.
The SSA, under its then President Lys Hansen RSW selected fifteen artists who, in the opinion of the SSA Council best represented the breadth of the total membership. These were; Naomi Robertson (tapestry), Paul Dignan (painting), Vasile Toch (installation/painting), Gordon Munro (sculpture), jane MacAllister Dukes (photography/ painting), Peter Russell (painting), John Johnstone (painting/ printmaking), Valerie Pragnell (installation), Joanna Kessel (sculpture/ construction), Marlene Ivey (sculpture/ installation), Rosann Cherubini (ceramics/ installation), Annie Cattrell (sculpture), Willie Rodger (printmaking), Charles Stiven (painting) and Alistair Wallace (nstallation).
Rodger's print was also used for the cover of the exhibition catalogue and he further undertook the design of the exhibition poster which featured two stylised peacocks.
In 1967 Rodger had been invited to exhibit in the International Sculpture Exhibition, curated by Ann Henderson ARSA, and which was held in Pittencrieff Park, the first such open-air sculpture exhibition to be held in Scotland since that in Kelvingrove park, Glasgow in the late 1940s.
