Boy at Play

The statuette should have a fine bronze wire connected to the spherical object in the boy's outstretched hand, the other end of which was held in the left hand. This is confirmed by the presence of two small drilled holes in the piece as well as by a contemporary photograph which shows the work as originally executed.
If it was contemporary with its exhibition history, the present piece dates from very close to the end of Portsmouth's career.
