Printmaker: Reeves, Philip Thomas Langford, RSA PPRSW RGI RE · 1931-2017
Reeves attended Cheltenham Art School in his home town from 1947-49.
He subsequently enrolled at the Royal College of Art in London where he received his first training in lithography under the direction of Edwin la Dell (1914-70) a future Royal Academician and recognised as a leading lithographer and illustrator.
This is one of a small group of intimate domestic interiors depicting women at their toilette which Reeves executed in colour lithography during his time at the RCA (1951-54) which are evocative of the lithographic work of the French artists Bonnard and Vuillard.
