Plaster cast copy of the 'Praying Boy of Rhodes,' by F N Bose ARSA
The photographer's identity is unknown but was probably an Edinburgh-based commercial photographer engaged by the Edinburgh School of Art.
Bose's figure was executed by him during his time as a student at the Edinburgh School of Art, formerly the Trustees' Academy which met in the former Royal Institution Building on the Mound in Edinburgh.
It can be identified as a copy after the so-called 'Praying Boy of Rhodes,' a classical marble sculpture in the Antiquities Museum in Berlin.
