Bose was in Paris in the summer of 1911 and executed a number of sketches of sculptures both ancient and more recent.

Many of the former were sketches made in the Musee de Sculpture Comparee at the Trocadero in Paris, or possibly in situ at the Palace of Versailles nearby.

The present sketches are of two unidentified ornamental architectural friezes.
