Interior of a First World War British Trench Bunker
Artist: Milne, John Maclauchlan Milne, RSA · 1885-1957
Milne saw active service during the First World War serving with the Royal Flying Corps (and subsequently the Royal Air Force) from April 1917 to May 1919. During some of this time he was stationed at Number One Aircraft Depot in St Omer, Pas de Calais.
Though unsigned this would appear to be a sketch which he made whilst sat in a bunker in a British trench.
Another of Milne's First World War sketches, "S.O.S. Post, Chateau Segard, near Ypres" is in the collections of Perth Art Gallery (1985.317).
